Research Group:
Lexical Categories in Linguistic Theory

Spring 2004

About the research project

The basic distinction that languages make among lexical categories -- nouns, verbs, and often also adjectives -- is arguably one of the universal characteristics of human language. As is well known, lexical categories typically differ in their syntactic patterning. This research project investigates differences among lexical categories outside of syntax.
