Research Group:
Lexical Categories in Linguistic Theory

Spring 2004

Call for participation

Undergraduate and graduate linguistics students are invited to apply to participate in this research group in one or both of two ways:

Several student researchers will
  • Design an individual research project that investigates the behavior of lexical categories in some area of linguistics (ideally, other than synchronic adult syntax)
  • Attend the weekly meetings of the research group and take turns presenting their research findings
  • Complete a midterm bibliography and a final paper for their individual research project

If desired, student researchers can receive course credit for their participation in the research group. Up to about 8 students can join the group as student researchers.

One research assistant will
  • Provide support work for the research project, mainly library research and photocopying
  • Earn $7 per hour, for approximately 3-5 hours per week

The research assistant may also be a student researcher on the project, but this is not required.

The research projects and term papers developed by student researchers could potentially lead to BA honors thesis or MA thesis topics (or PhD dissertations).
